Lynn Wallace WBØWOE
Lynn Wallace was born the second of three sons to Willis J. and Lucy A.(Vodraska) Wallace on November 15th, 1930, in rural Spirit Lake, Iowa. Lynn received his childhood education from the Lakeville Township II School and then from the Milford school system, graduating in 1948.
On the 11th day of May, 1951, Lynn Married Loraine Christensen, the gal he had met at the roller skating rink in Arnolds Park back in 1948. To this union, five children were brought into this world and raised on the family farm west of Spirit Lake. Lynn was a grain and livestock farmer most of his life until he chose to step back from the responsibilities and take on a more active role with the civil service. Lynn's hobbies included ham radio operations, old farm tractor restoration and multiple other public service duties.
Lynn was very passionate about serving Dickinson County and the communities within it. He was actively involved in so many civic and social groups that to name them all would be extremely difficult. His participation in these groups has had an effect and influence on very many lives in the area having served with the Dickinson County emergency management services for some 20 years, being a toownship official and chariman of the rural fire department since the early 1960's. Lynn was considered by many to be the person with the resources to obtain the needed answers to questoiins and to resolve the situations at hand. Lynn was also a 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus, the Audubon Society, and St. Mary's Catholic Church of Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Lynn passed away in the early morning hours on the 8th of July, 2007, as a result of the challenges of cancer.
Those allowed to enjoy their memories of Lynn are: Loraine, his wife, of rural Spirit Lake, Greg Wallace and Debbie, his wife, of Pheonix, Arizona and their children. Doug Wallace and Deb, his wife, of Omaha, Nebraska, and their children. Jane Bujanovich, daughter, of Grany, Colorado, and her children and special friend, Gary. Cathie Vancura, daughter, Larry, her husband, of Lakefield, Minnesota, and their children. Connie Leimer, daughter, of Hermosa, South Dakota, and her children. Lynn is also survived by 15 grandchidren, one great grandchild, numerous nieces and nephews, including Steve Wallace, Lynn's right hand man in the field.
He is preceded by his parents, and two brothers, Leonard in 1974, and Dean in 1992.
