So, what is all this sixone about?
Sixone has been slang for our club sponsored amateur radio 2 meter repeater output frequency for as long as I can remember. The actual output(transmit) frequency is 146.610 Mega Hertz.
2 meters?
Two meters represents the close approximation of the electromagnetic wavelength at 146.610MHz. It can be calculated by a simple algebraic equation.
Wavelength = Speed of light/Frequency
2.045 meters = 299,792,458 meters per second/146,610,000 cycles per second.
What is a repeater?
